Revolutionizing Brick Installation: The Brick Rainscreen System

In the ever-evolving landscape of construction, the brick rainscreen system has emerged as a transformative solution, offering a range of advantages that redefine the way we approach building exteriors. The concept of a rainscreen system, where an outer layer shields a building's primary structure from the elements, has gained widespread acclaim for its ability to enhance thermal performance, manage moisture effectively, and contribute to the overall sustainability of structures. These systems create a protective barrier, preventing water from reaching the building's core while allowing for optimal ventilation. Now, at the forefront of this innovation, we introduce the DURUS System Brick Rainscreen —a groundbreaking evolution in brick tray technology that not only embraces the core principles of a rainscreen system but elevates them to new heights.

The Stainless Steel Advantage: A New Era of Performance

At the heart of the DURUS System lies its patent-pending stainless steel trays, signaling a new era of performance in brick tray technology. Crafted from 20-gauge 304B stainless steel, these trays address concerns related to corrosion and rust, ensuring longevity and durability in diverse environmental conditions.

The backside of the trays is intelligently designed with uniform drainage holes along the lower edge. This strategic placement allows incidental moisture to effortlessly escape, running down the back of the trays and through the cavity. Stiffener ribs play a dual role by reinforcing structural strength and guiding precise vertical alignment, resulting in a secure and uniform installation.

Maintaining horizontal alignment is crucial in brick installations, and the DURUS trays achieve this effortlessly. The uniform bottom edge provides a reliable foundation for bricks, ensuring a consistent and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Versatility in Material Choices

Recognizing the diverse needs of construction projects, the DURUS trays are available in two material options: 304B Stainless Steel and G90 Galvanized.

Stainless Steel (304B): The stainless steel option boasts 20-gauge modular stainless steel, cold roll-formed, with a smooth surface and pre-punched shapes. Available in convenient 8-foot lengths, this variant guarantees a sleek and resilient solution for projects where premium quality is non-negotiable.

Galvanized (G90): The galvanized trays, also in 20-gauge, adhere to ASTM A653 specifications for sheet steel, zinc-coated through the continuous hot-dipped process. The G90 designation denotes the thickness of the zinc coating, providing a reliable barrier against environmental elements.

Galvanized Trays: Balancing Strength and Protection

The galvanized DURUS trays undergo a meticulous process, ensuring uniform coating and sufficient ductility to withstand bending or deep drawing without compromising the coating. The continuous galvanizing method produces a thin, almost pure zinc coating with minimal intermetallic growth, deformation, or warpage of the steel.

Despite the challenging environment these trays may face—wet, damp, or dry—their design allows for optimal water and moisture management. The continuous convection airflow within the cavity of a typical rainscreen assembly minimizes the risk of water or moisture collecting within the trays.

Understanding the importance of cathodic protection, especially in exposed edges, the DURUS trays are well within the estimated cathodically protected area. The galvanization process, combined with the 20-gauge steel, ensures that these trays offer robust protection against corrosion.

Confidence in Performance

Drawing on published articles by the American Galvanizers Association, the DURUS System instills confidence in the performance of its galvanized trays. The galvanization process, while a second player to standard stainless steel, provides a cost-effective solution without compromising performance.

We recognize that not every project necessitates the premium offering of stainless steel. The galvanized DURUS trays, however, stand as a reliable alternative, allowing architects and builders to specify and install with confidence, backed by the surety of performance.

The DURUS System Brick Rainscreen System is a testament to innovation and quality in the construction industry. Its thoughtful design, material choices, and commitment to performance make it a standout solution for modern brick installations. As a trusted distributor, we are excited to offer this revolutionary product to our clients, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in building materials.
